Purvashadha Nakshatra

Purvashadha nakshatra is located almost exactly opposite Ardra, “the moist star” of individuality and individual effort (yatna shakti), which has a teardrop or a single water drop as its symbol. Purvashadha, is its opposite: it represents the vast waters of collective consciousness and inspires us to collect all the individuals and individual ideas together and unite them for the sake of one higher goal.

Apa Devi, presiding Goddess of this lunar mansion, inspires us to unite things (rather than dividing them), sacrifice a bit of our ego and individuality for the higher purpose and look at things from more holistic, all-inclusive perspective. It encourages us to wider the horizons of our understanding, stay tolerant and accepting to others like water, and not get stuck in our personal beliefs or pursuit of our personal goals, but rather act for the sake of universal welfare.
